I’ve had the pleasure to work with Daniela on a number of projects over the past few years. From strategic designing of successful and engaging youth programs to leading workshops and summer youth camps on diversity and inclusion, Daniela has continuously been a backbone of consistency, passion, thoroughness and care in her work with me.

She has a true gift of seeing the value that every voice brings into a conversation. Her felt kindness and curiosity helps create a space where empathy and important conversations can take place. I see her light up when hearing the powerful learning stories from the youth and supporting them to become even more capable leaders in their community. I believe Daniela is doing what she both loves and is gifted at. I would highly recommend her for her gifts of connecting with others and helping their stories be shared with the world.

Warren Seann Hooley

Professional Development Facilitator

As the Executive Editor of ZEKE: The Magazine of Global Documentary Photography, I have hired Daniela to write numerous articles for the magazine as well as edit other people’s work. She is a consummate professional, always a pleasure to work with, she produces outstanding work, and she embraces the challenge as if it is the only project she is working on—which of course it isn’t.

I would highly recommend Daniela if you are looking for a writer who can immediately grasp your organization’s objectives, understand the environment of your constituency, and produce magic. What more can an editor look for?

Glenn Ruga

Executive Editor, ZEKE Magazine

Daniela produces well-structured and engaging articles, providing us with vibrant, concise and pertinent stories of deep human interest. She consistently meets deadlines, provides relevant photos to accompany stories, and faithfully respects editorial guidelines. It’s a real pleasure to work with Daniela.

Monique Kroeger

Associate Publisher / Éditrice associée, Senior Editor (French and English)/ Rédactrice en chef (anglais et français), The Source Newspaper- Journal La Source

Daniela worked closely with me in co-designing and co-facilitating diversity and inclusion workshops that we delivered across sectors, for example the North Vancouver RCMP, City of North Vancouver staff, and members from various Boards on the North Shore. Daniela has a breadth of expertise and knowledge in curriculum design and methodology, including various teaching techniques and exercises for diverse participants to gain understanding of diversity and inclusion. As a facilitator, she is cognizant of creating safe space for difficult conversations to occur, and she has strong emotional intelligence and non-violent communication skills, especially when dealing with difficult participants who have internalized bias and systemic racism. I highly recommend working with Daniela.

Meharoona Ghani

Community Engagement, Diversity and Inclusion Specialist

I highly recommend Daniela Cohen’s editing and writing services to any individual or company interested in doing some writing, editing professionally and within a timely fashion. Daniela was capable of editing some of my poorly written drafts when I was doing my master’s and identified the ideas which did not flow logically. Her review of my literature was thorough, identifying where my arguments were weak and unclear for the readers to have a good understanding of the topic.

Daniela works from a collaborative perspective and incorporates the client’s perspective and voice while tweaking some sentence structures and unclear paragraphs. The most interesting thing is Daniela gives her feedback and in very respectful manner and the writer does not feel at any time belittled or undermined.

Owner, Blue Haven Counselling and Coaching

I hired Daniela to help me with grant writing for a music grant I was applying for. Daniela was very helpful with editing and proofreading my grant application and getting it polished for submission. She took the time to go through all of the grant information on the funding body’s website so that she was familiar with what the grant application required and what they were looking for, and then made sure that my application included those things. She communicated well and was very reliable. I hope to use Daniela in the future for grant writing as the experience was nothing short of amazing with her. I have hired grant writers in the past, and Daniela’s professionalism far exceeded theirs.

“Identity and what it means in your classroom”

I am a professor and instructor in the UBC Bachelor of Education program (B.Ed.-Elementary) at the University of British Columbia.  As part of my EDUC 452 course ‘Teacher Inquiry,’ I invited Daniela and her colleague to speak to my class of 36 pre-service teachers about the concept of ‘identity’ as it pertains to both teachers and students in our school system.  It has been long accepted that understanding oneself is the first step in understanding others (Beauchamp & Thomas, 2019).  To this end, Daniela and her colleague conducted a 90-minute workshop with my class that allowed the students to explore and think more deeply about their own subjectivity with respect to the role they play in the classroom and how they interact with the children in their care, all of whom bring different intersecting elements of identity.  The workshop was a wonderful opportunity for the students to make explicit and articulate many of their underlying assumptions about identity, and begin to think of ways to enhance diverse students’ sense of belonging in the classroom.  Further, the issues raised continued to be a source of discussion long after the workshop.  I would strongly recommend the workshops and programs offered by Daniela. Her expertise and experience in the education as well as equity, diversity and inclusion arenas means that Daniela is able to bring a deep sense of commitment, understanding, and sensitivity to this topic.

Working with Daniela is a guarantee of precision and efficiency. In the work she collaborated with me on, she always interpreted the needs of the project accurately and her texts delivered the results I hoped for. Without a doubt, Daniela is the editor that every project should have.

Daniela has an incredible sensitivity to the needs of her students and shows a genuine interest in both their writing and lives. With gentle energy and encouraging guidance she creates a safe warm container for creative expression to flow. I love how she incorporates yoga and movement with interesting and diverse prompts (including writers with diverse backgrounds). I know my writing improved because of her skillful somatic writing facilitation and I wouldn’t hesitate to take more writing classes with her (I’ve taken 3 so far).
