.Writing in Flow: Tapping into Our Creative Energy

Yoga and mindfulness practices can help us to become fully present and relaxed, yet focused. This state of “flow” helps us tap into our natural creativity, overcoming mental barriers we may have about creative writing, and dispelling the clutter of thoughts that can block our creative energy. We will write from prompts heard while in this state of awareness and share our writing, along with writing done at home, and get feedback in small groups. The Yoga practices are suitable for people of all ages and levels of fitness, involving breath and movement focused on mind and body awareness.

This is a 6-week course that will be offered in SFU’s Liberal Arts and 55+ Program in January 2024.

”Daniela has an incredible sensitivity to the needs of her students and shows a genuine interest in both their writing and lives. With gentle energy and encouraging guidance she creates a safe warm container for creative expression to flow. I love how she incorporates yoga and movement with interesting and diverse prompts (including writers with diverse backgrounds). I know my writing improved because of her skillful somatic writing facilitation and I wouldn’t hesitate to take more writing classes with her (I’ve taken 3 so far).”
