Working with Daniela on building conflict positive organizations has transformed how our team engages conflict. We are an organization that is intentional about dialogue and incorporating shared commitments. Conflict positivity allowed us to navigate those conversations that were very emotionally charged. It also allowed us to commit to modeling the relationships we invite our guests into.

One of the most important features is having a clear process for the conversation. The role play was so helpful. This allowed us to practice imperfectly the steps and to have fun while doing it.

We learned that there is a difference between being in dialogue and using the ACCESS model to navigate conflict. And these skills can be learned with practice.

You have my highest recommendation for working with Daniela. She is a transformative facilitator and creates an environment where everyone feels able to engage the work freely. Everyone in our organization was eager to practice and use the tools.

I’ve had the pleasure to work with Daniela on a number of projects over the past few years. From strategic designing of successful and engaging youth programs to leading workshops and summer youth camps on diversity and inclusion, Daniela has continuously been a backbone of consistency, passion, thoroughness and care in her work with me.

She has a true gift of seeing the value that every voice brings into a conversation. Her felt kindness and curiosity helps create a space where empathy and important conversations can take place. I see her light up when hearing the powerful learning stories from the youth and supporting them to become even more capable leaders in their community. I believe Daniela is doing what she both loves and is gifted at. I would highly recommend her for her gifts of connecting with others and helping their stories be shared with the world.

Working with Daniela was a delight, right from the start I appreciated the clear and structured approach that also allowed us to be flexible. I loved that she intentionally creates space to process and digest both during sessions and in between.  I always felt safe, nurtured and appreciated in my conversations with Daniela. This is necessary, since the work is deep and meaningful.

The coaching experience was truly transformative: I gained confidence and challenged beliefs blocking me or slowing me to accomplish my vision. These beliefs were like a heavy weight with me all the time and unearthing them, pondering them and reframing them was liberating. I do not have all the answers and I do not feel like I have to and that’s powerful! It is also powerful to have control over your narrative. As a consequence not only do I feel closer to accomplishing my vision, I feel hopeful and braver in broader aspects of my life too. Thank you, Daniela!

As the Executive Editor of ZEKE: The Magazine of Global Documentary Photography, I have hired Daniela to write numerous articles for the magazine as well as edit other people’s work. She is a consummate professional, always a pleasure to work with, she produces outstanding work, and she embraces the challenge as if it is the only project she is working on—which of course it isn’t.

I would highly recommend Daniela if you are looking for a writer who can immediately grasp your organization’s objectives, understand the environment of your constituency, and produce magic. What more can an editor look for?

Glenn Ruga

Executive Editor, ZEKE Magazine

Daniela produces well-structured and engaging articles, providing us with vibrant, concise and pertinent stories of deep human interest. She consistently meets deadlines, provides relevant photos to accompany stories, and faithfully respects editorial guidelines. It’s a real pleasure to work with Daniela.

Working with Daniela is a guarantee of precision and efficiency. In the work she collaborated with me on, she always interpreted the needs of the project accurately and her texts delivered the results I hoped for. Without a doubt, Daniela is the editor that every project should have.

Freedom to Thrive came at a time when I really needed to slow down and it gave me the tools and space to do just that. One of the biggest shifts for me was learning to pause instead of overextend, to say no without guilt, and to be more intentional about how I spend my energy. I started tracking what fuels me versus what drains me, and I’ve found myself working fewer hours but getting more meaningful work done.

What sets Daniela apart is her ability to identify the precise leverage points for transformation. She asks the kind of questions that open doors you didn’t even know existed, helping you connect dots that were always there but somehow invisible.

As leaders in the nonprofit sector, we often operate within systems that reward over-giving and normalize the “do more with less” mentality. This program helped me name those patterns and begin unlearning them. It offered a new model of leadership, one that is sustainable, relational, and rooted in trust, not self-sacrifice.

Daniela worked closely with me in co-designing and co-facilitating diversity and inclusion workshops that we delivered across sectors, for example the North Vancouver RCMP, City of North Vancouver staff, and members from various Boards on the North Shore. Daniela has a breadth of expertise and knowledge in curriculum design and methodology, including various teaching techniques and exercises for diverse participants to gain understanding of diversity and inclusion. As a facilitator, she is cognizant of creating safe space for difficult conversations to occur, and she has strong emotional intelligence and non-violent communication skills, especially when dealing with difficult participants who have internalized bias and systemic racism. I highly recommend working with Daniela.

I highly recommend Daniela Cohen’s editing and writing services to any individual or company interested in doing some writing, editing professionally and within a timely fashion. Daniela was capable of editing some of my poorly written drafts when I was doing my master’s and identified the ideas which did not flow logically. Her review of my literature was thorough, identifying where my arguments were weak and unclear for the readers to have a good understanding of the topic.

Daniela works from a collaborative perspective and incorporates the client’s perspective and voice while tweaking some sentence structures and unclear paragraphs. The most interesting thing is Daniela gives her feedback and in very respectful manner and the writer does not feel at any time belittled or undermined.

I hired Daniela to help me with grant writing for a music grant I was applying for. Daniela was very helpful with editing and proofreading my grant application and getting it polished for submission. She took the time to go through all of the grant information on the funding body’s website so that she was familiar with what the grant application required and what they were looking for, and then made sure that my application included those things. She communicated well and was very reliable. I hope to use Daniela in the future for grant writing as the experience was nothing short of amazing with her. I have hired grant writers in the past, and Daniela’s professionalism far exceeded theirs.

Daniela has an incredible sensitivity to the needs of her students and shows a genuine interest in both their writing and lives. With gentle energy and encouraging guidance she creates a safe warm container for creative expression to flow. I love how she incorporates yoga and movement with interesting and diverse prompts (including writers with diverse backgrounds). I know my writing improved because of her skillful somatic writing facilitation and I wouldn’t hesitate to take more writing classes with her (I’ve taken 3 so far).

Our community at Immigrant Women Initiative had the pleasure of working with Daniela Cohen to lead a workshop on conflict resolution and constructively navigating workplace challenges. Daniela facilitated the workshop, which focused particularly on newcomer immigrant women who are fairly new to the Canadian landscape. As a facilitator of women-centric leadership programs, Daniela brought a wealth of knowledge and a unique approach that resonated deeply with our participants.

The workshop was designed to provide practical, actionable strategies for managing conflict in professional environments, emphasizing the challenges immigrant women face in Canada. Daniela shared valuable insights on conflict resolution and focused on fostering constructive communication, harnessing emotional intelligence, and leadership skills—empowering women to feel confident in their professional growth and integration into Canadian workplaces.

Her expertise, combined with her warm, engaging, and inclusive style, created a safe and welcoming space for women new to Canada to share their experiences and challenges. The feedback we received was very positive, with many attendees expressing how the workshop helped them with actionable tools to navigate workplace dynamics and handle difficult situations with confidence.

Daniela has a natural ability to connect and engage with the audience. Our community looks forward to working with her again in the future.

Participating in the Re-imagining Service for Women Healthcare Leaders Coaching Program was a rewarding and transformational experience. The group supported me to recognize how the stories I’ve held about myself, particularly around strengths, weaknesses, and difference, have shaped my professional journey.

I gained the confidence to be more intentional in how I show up at work, to be intentional about asking for clarification, and to see being different as a strength, not a limitation. I can now approach challenges with greater self-awareness and appreciation for my own and others’ resilience. The program not only gave me the tools for listening and reflecting but also the mindset to strive for balance, clarity, and continued growth in both my personal and professional life.

I deeply appreciated our coach and the other participants’ insight, kindness, and patience throughout the process. Our coach, Daniela’s ability to guide and challenge us while encouraging us and celebrating even small wins made a lasting impact. I leave the program with renewed purpose and a stronger sense of self.

“Identity and what it means in your classroom”

I am a professor and instructor in the UBC Bachelor of Education program (B.Ed.-Elementary) at the University of British Columbia.  As part of my EDUC 452 course ‘Teacher Inquiry,’ I invited Daniela and her colleague to speak to my class of 36 pre-service teachers about the concept of ‘identity’ as it pertains to both teachers and students in our school system.  It has been long accepted that understanding oneself is the first step in understanding others (Beauchamp & Thomas, 2019).  To this end, Daniela and her colleague conducted a 90-minute workshop with my class that allowed the students to explore and think more deeply about their own subjectivity with respect to the role they play in the classroom and how they interact with the children in their care, all of whom bring different intersecting elements of identity.  The workshop was a wonderful opportunity for the students to make explicit and articulate many of their underlying assumptions about identity, and begin to think of ways to enhance diverse students’ sense of belonging in the classroom.  Further, the issues raised continued to be a source of discussion long after the workshop.  I would strongly recommend the workshops and programs offered by Daniela. Her expertise and experience in the education as well as equity, diversity and inclusion arenas means that Daniela is able to bring a deep sense of commitment, understanding, and sensitivity to this topic.
